I wanted to create a popup that only shows up when the person gets to the bottom of the page. It only shows every 30 days at maximum once per session.

Here are the results:

and here is the code:

CSS
Code:
<!-- Style this nonsense - @MakoCCarter -->
<style type="text/css">
    .overlay, .popup {
      opacity: 0; /* Initial state with full transparency */
      transition: opacity 0.5s ease; /* Transition effect for opacity change */
    }

    .overlay.visible, .popup.visible {
      opacity: 1; /* Target state with full visibility */
    }

    .overlay {
      position: fixed;
      top: 0;
      left: 0;
      width: 100%;
      height: 100%;
      background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.75); /* Black with 10% opacity */
      display: none; /* Keep this to prevent it from taking space when not visible */
      z-index: 1; /* Ensures overlay is below the popup */
    }

    .popup {

        top: 50%;

Here is a working example: Popup When Scrolling To Bottom of Page

Use this version of the script for the person to get to a certain position on the page (set at 25% down the way - you can adjust it to whatever you want):

Code:
<!-- JavaScript- @MakoCCarter -->
<script type="text/javascript">
    const popup = document.getElementById('popup');
    const overlay = document.getElementById('overlay');

    function showPopup() {
      const lastPopup = localStorage.getItem('last-newsletter-signup-popup');
      const daysSinceLastPopup = ((Date.now() - lastPopup) / (1000 * 60 * 60 * 24));
      if (!lastPopup || daysSinceLastPopup > 30) {
        overlay.style.display = 'block'; // Make it occupy space
        popup.style.display = 'block'; // Make it occupy space
        setTimeout(() => { // Allow for display: block to take effect
          overlay.classList.add('visible'); // Start the fade-in transition
          popup.classList.add('visible');
        }, 10);
        localStorage.setItem('last-newsletter-signup-popup', Date.now());
      }
    }

    function closePopup() {
      overlay.classList.remove('visible');
      popup.classList.remove('visible');
      setTimeout(() => { // Wait for fade-out transition to finish
        overlay.style.display = 'none'; // Hide after transition
        popup.style.display = 'none';
      }, 500); // Match the duration of the transition
    }

    window.onscroll = function() {
      const windowHeight = window.innerHeight || document.documentElement.offsetHeight;
      const documentHeight = document.documentElement.scrollHeight;
      const scrollPosition = window.pageYOffset || document.documentElement.scrollTop;

      // Calculate 25% of the page height
      const triggerHeight = documentHeight * 0.25;

      // Check if the current scroll position is greater than or equal to 25% of the page
      if (scrollPosition >= triggerHeight) {
        showPopup();
      }
    };
</script>

Here is a version of it work: Popup When Scrolling To A Position On The Page

Thanks, scrolling to the bottom is a good way to do it. That's really useful for a forum login prompt. I had something similar set up but it was after they visited 3 pages and I didn't like it so I turned it off. Scrolling to the bottom implies they read the whole thing which means they're more inclined to sign up for something.

Thanks, I want to adapt this to showing an affiliate offer as a fixed bottom bar/sidebar slide in once a user has scrolled.

fixed bottom bar/sidebar slide in once a user has scrolled.

Here is a version that is fixed to the bottom: Popup For Fixed Bottom Bar After Scrolling To A Position

If you want to get a bit spammy you can remove the close bottom HTML, and reduce the daysSinceLastPopup from 30 days to negative -30 OR simply change the localstorage.getItem to something like "fixed-bottom_barXXASA" and not have it match the other instance of localstorage.setItem. That way it keeps popping up on every page reload and they can't close this.

I don't condone not being able to close annoying pop-up, it's why the websites are dying and people are moving to APPs.

Sweet, no I don't want to be spammy with it at all. I'll be using it for something different, but of course, it's also a nice way to promote a special offer etc.
