A range terms I am ranking for have historically shown star ratings based on the schema setup I have. Other sites in the same results were always showing them as well.

I recently updated the framework on my site. My aggregate reviews are on the top of the page, with all the review content in tabs. I've run into issues before where lazy loading review content will cause you to not show rating schema in the serps because its not 'seen' when the page is crawled.

Thinking that was the issue I moved my review content out of the tabs and put it right on the page. Been watching for a couple days and nothing is coming back.

What I've now noticed is its a ghost town for star ratings in organic results now. Other sites (reputable like Yelp, tripadvisor) were showing them, and now they aren't either. I'm not really concerned my setup is wrong, I just think something may have changed in the way these results pages are being classified or something.

Anyone else seen any unusual movements?

I did read that and checked myself. No alerts or issues on my end. Checking search console, my structured data levels are even, no dropping, no errors.

I have a custom coded review solution running that I made myself so I am very confident in the implementation. Also all the review content is 100% legit. I don't have any worries.

Like you say it could be split testing or implementing a change. Just wondering if anyone else is seeing changes now/recently.

Mine were showing and are gone now to... for aggregate reviews, on some pages. Some random pages still have them. Very weird. Then some products too, don't have them. No penalty on my side either.

Just found this:

"It is hard to say if Google intentionally removed the review stars from the search results. But a huge percentage of the queries Moz tracks show a significant decline in review snippets, so this seems like a bug to me, but Google will hopefully get back to us soon with more details.

The important thing to note is that if your review stars are missing in the search results, you are not alone."

I can confirm that, on a big brand site with hundreds of millions of pages, tens of millions that are indexed, that pretty much all of the aggregate review snippets have disappeared from search.

Thanks for the info, glad to see the info. On another large ecomm site I work on, schema is still showing like normal.

From my observations and just based on a gut feeling, it looks to me like G is working on changes to different types of search queries. I don't think this is a bug.

My hunch was right. Confirmed by large review providers that this strangeness is normal during testing. Seeing stars back on some of my organic results today.
