Google Algorithm Updates - 2024 Ongoing Discussion

Anyone hoping for a rollback needs to realize that ship sailed over 2 years ago. Google is doubling down on their decision to basically whitelist content sites. Other non-info seeking queries seem relatively untouched, but the content game is toast.

Also, apparently Google has once again reiterated that Core Updates will now be smaller in scope but more frequent.
The Google Ads support reps at my company warned us this was going to be big. I agree that content sites area dead and that, if you want to succeed financially, you need to adapt. The faster an organization (or a solo-entrepreneur) changes, the healthier it is and the more profit it can make. It'll get first mover advantage and a solid foothold before competition sets in.

Here's my pivots:
  1. I'm going more into adult keywords. Adult keywords are safe from generative AI and is low competition. This is for the long haul. 20 years from now, people will still be using search engines to find pr0n. Generative AI refuses to assist with these queries. Great!
  2. Product sites. I have one and am supporting these sites more. You need branded queries and customers who go to your site without search. No way around that.
  3. Google Ads. My product site is going to go all in on google ads. Fuck SEO. Takes too long to get results, takes a huge upfront investment, and the pie is slowly diminishing.
  4. Social media. This is on my radar but I haven't invested in it personally -- yet. I want to do OnlyFans management. Easier algorithm and sexy content spreads like wildfire on the tiktok algo. Tons of money being made here.
I really think that this forum needs to start adapting and changing, or else it'll die out. Pretty soon, this forum will filled with Bojack Horseman type characters who just complain about how their glory years has passed.

I'm seeing a good amount of movement. It's weird that impressions are down, but traffic is still the same. I will report back once the dust settles.

I respectfully disagree. The ROI is still there with SEO and I'm not just saying this because it's my part of my livelihood. I'm keeping the faith that one day I'll be able to move out of my Mom's basement.
