Is Elementor bad or can it be good?

So is Generate Blocks still great versus Elementor or Kadence?

I need to hire a designer and figure it's better to go with one familiar with these page site builders so I don't get caught with my pants down later on.

I've been on a GeneratePress / GenerateBlocks / ACF stack (All Pro) for years now and think it's pretty much the way to go on WordPress right now.

The GeneratePress Pro Elements system is pretty much the original promise of Gutenberg - block editing anywhere on the site, building templates in blocks, etc.

GenerateBlocks just adds better versions of the core WordPress blocks that don't suck and have actual styling options. I guess the WP Engine shitshow was more important than building say an actual working column block.

ACF for custom fields and the few custom blocks I need to make special because I can't do whatever I need to do with the normal blocks. It's pretty rare that I even use a child stylesheet these days.

I'm starting my website, and I only have 3 posts [still in the draft], I'm using Elementor Pro but I don't know if it's a good option, I see some comments here on BuSo that say that the elementor is very heavy and consumes a lot of unnecessary stuff and it's good to remove it as soon as possible, and others say that if you configure it right you can use it without a problem or that you never had a problem with performance, what do you say?

Generate Blocks seems like a good alternative, Gutenberg seems a bit complicated.
I used elementor in the beginning. There was this thing that even had its class in Udemy which was amazing and totally intuitive but then they decided to make it like 400 a pop and I thought "are you crazy?" so I went to elementor but found out that it wasn't that easy and it wasn't as amazing as this one whose name i've forgotten

so looking I moved to Gutenberg. it is very good and now it is the only one I use.

Elementor sucks. They store post data in JSON format and it makes search/replacing content (redirected links for example) a fkn nightmare. There's a function to replace the root domain in the DB, but nothing for individual URLs. You need to use WP-CLI to bulk search/replace stuff.

They've known about this problem since 2020. Nobody seems to care.

I like Gutenberg but I think other page builders keep it simple and don't have this problem.

If you are building for yourself, it should be fine. If you need it as your portfolio, better to use some other page builder, such as oxygen, bricks.
