What other forums do you find valuable?

What this makes clear, there's a NEED.

Where there's a need, there's money to be made.

Personally I like BuiderSociety. The moderation here has been great.
-There's been a block of abuse by foreign seo-farms.
-It's also been great at moderating some personalities that end up being the demise of forums like Wickedfire. Too much negativity will always crash any project . Laws of nature.
-quality of buyers/sellers is high. Genuine people for the most.

As others say, I've become a user of reddit regularly as of 2019.

Facebook, I could never find a group that was decent for the niches I needed.

I had created a forum that would focus on newbs, with 'hand to mouth' posts in a paid section on where to make money from eBay. I had plans to add more, but i got wrapped up in the issues with holidays followed by eComm's Wuhan issue now. To find people who actually want to contribute content = super hard.


Oof.. Just asaw the time.. almost 4am.. Anyhow, maybe this post is onto somethng... maybe BuilderSociety should launch subreddit, facebook group, etc.. takeover

All it boils down to is "here's an outline of stuff to do by the day." It goes up to like 60 days or something then it's "publish publish publish."

It's literally a paint-by-numbers framework for newbies to follow to remove uncertainty. You're paying for someone who's done it before to pat you on the back and say "don't worry, just keep following the plan." Meanwhile they say on their Youtube videos that most people won't make it. So that tells you that their plan itself isn't bulletproof.

The plan is literally like:
  1. Choose a niche and register a domain
  2. Install Wordpress and these plugins and our theme
  3. Do keyword research and come up with article ideas based on it
  4. Write your first post.
  5. Sign up for a YouTube channel and set it up.
  6. Write your second post.
  7. Create a video based on your first post.
  8. Write your third post.
  9. Write your e-book that you'll sell for $15 in your sidebar.
  10. Write your fourth post.
It's like that (zero exaggeration) and they provide guidance on how much money you should expect to make by day 30, day 60, day 100, etc. They celebrate "Pizza Day" when someone makes their first $5 in revenue. It's newbie central. And they recommend zero link building.

If you watch their Youtube videos you end up hearing everything that's in the course. I think they even have one that goes ever the course. I enjoy their videos. They're one of the few on there actually talking about SEO with a decent production value, even if it's on the baby level.

Others may enjoy joining their program, especially those unsure how to proceed and want LITERAL hand holding. You'd be wasting your money.

I 100% agree with this. In fact, I've personally been through nearly every major affiliate marketing course available (not sure if this is something to brag about) and they're basically all the same because they're all made for the target audience of the seller- newbies. The only difference is the packaging. I do give the Income School guys credit though- at least they actually attempted to lead the purchasers of their course down the road as opposed to most courses (but this might have been to lessen refunds).

I would recommend going for topic-specific courses, not general courses. For example, the Detailed SEO Blueprint course from Glen Allsopp is probably the most "advanced" course I've been through (I didn't even know what half the course contents were, lol). I also found Kyle Roof's On Page SEO course to be quite good, but it's not going to blow you away if you've already been doing SEO for a while.

This forum is the most valuable asset at my disposal, and I can get access to nearly every single course ever made through contacts of mine. I would recommend people not even bother looking for any other forums- this one is the best one available.
 
Only thing I would pay for is traffic think tank.

the best seo outers are found at mtg or poker tournaments and other pay to win try hard stuff. You win at seo you get free network effect rent.

free network effect rent is awesome if you’re a capitalist. You can package it up and sell it up the value chain.
 
I don't need any other forum.

What I need is more networking, which was a great benefit of STM forum. Speaking of the latter, it seems to have qualitively deteriorated, when I signed up a few months ago. They did have amazing meetups though.

It would be cool to have meetups on BuSo even conferences.

Nah, it's shit. I've been a member for years (longer than here), it's gone from being a good forum to being full of newbs worshipping gurus who don't even buy traffic anymore - and networks promoting themselves.

Just being honest. Spend those 200$ or whatever it costs a month nowadays on traffic - you'll learn more.

I think there may be one or two more but I've dug into these. IMO, BHW does have good information or some starter idea capital for those who are just joining but once you find people coming on to the site to lie and manipulate others into believing they've guru'd marketing, it becomes distasteful.

I just recently discovered BuSo and immediately resonated with the free Digital Course provided. So much so, I downloaded every thread as a PDF. I was searching for leaked information from those paid forums (which if you Google properly you can find some leaked BSM's) and stubbled here. I think this forum is a gem among the others that actually is IM specific.

Other than that, I am a true advocate for plowing through your own path to find what works for you and keeping that to yourself. One thing about MJ's books, he discusses barrier's to entry. If everyone has the same information with the same secrets, the barrier will eventually become entry-leveled.
 
I recommend Legiit's Facebook Group, it's a great place for like-minded marketing and business professionals. P.S, you can also hire talent from the group. Other is Warrior Forum.
 
In terms of valuable communities to learn from, Whatsapp is very popular in my country (the Netherlands) and there are actually a couple good group chats. These chats are invite-only, only the creator can invite and they literally check your LinkedIn to see if you're any good. So, total newbies don't get in, but junior-level and above people do and any "check my business" spam is handled harshly. As a result, there's actually quite a few veterans in there too.

That + BuSo and that's it for me.
 
Redit and one other in the business arena, as it is a closed community the only way to access it is to become a paid member. Occassionally I go into Quora really to see if there are new topics anyone needs help with.

Seems like complete garbage with a bunch of personal branding grifters rehashing and making up archaic processes to try and sucker people into buying.

You can find all of that info here with less spin and bullshitware shoehorned into the process.

0 out of 10. Would advise my clients to stay far away.

That seems to be the case for all private forums, paid or free. If you can't see what's inside the forum without signing up, you're about to get played for a sucker. The game is to find dupes who will sign up or fork out money for invisible secrets, and then milk them for even more money for even more secret secrets. It's a marketing funnel.

I am in a few forums none where paid for, as in paying to have access, a couple where a part of having purchased a product. Now none of them expect you to purchase. so this really seems unfounded. That is not to say there are yes bad ones out there, as one a few years ago, was just sign up that really needed a red flag over it.

The group may still be out there, where the only person earning from it was the owner, he only excepted payment via BitCoin. I was out after a week all they where interested in, was for you to post their ads for them.

There is value in any private forum that gives back, there is never a request to purchase anything or for others to post their own links.

It pays for us to be vigilant and on guard at all times.
 
I'd say Fastlane Forum and Traffic Think Tank by Nick Eubanks (Its a Slack group and training) are two really good ones.

I second Fastlane... pulled some gems out of it over the years.

IMG is pretty solid and pretty new...
 
I third InternetMarketing.gold. Some of their content is behind a paywall, but much of it is freely available. They've got some great marketing minds there. The SEO Fight Club guys are a small handful of SEOs I still bother listening to.
 
I'm actually a little over the moon finding this place.

Like others, I've only ever subscribed to /r/juststart. It's the only forum I've ever read on this, and here I am now doing it full time! I wouldn't recommend it nowadays though - it's a bit outdated and full of basic questions. Very rare that someone of experience shares there, aside from the odd 1 or 2.
 
Forums I find useful

hackernews - although its a time sink a lot of the time if i want to find something out often I will use the search function on that site and find a comment from some ex Google employee.

Aspkin is still pretty decent although a few of the threads verge on identity fraud.

a few of the Russian forums are decent gofuckbiz.com etc
 
Authority Hacker is very solid and active for site building. I like AdSkills for any paid media.

I think it has a facebook group, which in my opinion is horrible for learning and discussing stuff.
 
What do you guys think for WebmasterWorld and SearchEngines Guru (it's originally a Russian but they have English version)?
 
Old school WMW was a little bit similar to this place (circa 2001 onwards, original Brit Pubcons, NFFC, rcjordan, and pre-GoogleGuy). You could find experts on many topics and people who were not afraid to push the envelope or question accepted wisdom.

The single most important piece of advice I ever received in this game (still valid) came from a DMOZ meta active there who didn't particularly realise the implications of what he was talking about. Then Matt Cutts turned up, it became a cargo cult and SEO temporarily turned into what did Rand Fishkin preach this Friday?

With WMW now, their mods are still impressive on the tech side. From an up-to-date strategy and implementation side of things I'd say you are far better off here unless you are looking for tech stuff or buried treasure. Some of the WMW originals hang out over at Th3 Core.
 
Yeah, I remember WMW being decent for SEO updates and the like.
